Should war replace politics or, conversely, should politics replace war?

Since politics has resorted to war, should it relinquish power in order to let military leaders alone decide the form of their action against all political influence and interference?

Or, conversely, should politics exercise its predominance and lead the war?

If war is too dangerous a thing to be left to the military alone, it can also be so when it is started by politicians who do not work in total cohesion with the military who are aware of the importance and the demands of different military strategies and their possible consequences.

War is only a part of politics; it is its continuation by another means.

It is true that war has its own rule, but not its own logic, which remains that of dominant politics.

Only politics can design war in such a way as to make it an instrument.

But by force of circumstances, it might sometimes be that the military command has to take back control.
